Looking for a unique holiday gift that's easy to make and will 'wow' your loved ones? Come join me on Sunday, December 15th from 7:00-8:30pm at The Works for our holiday surprise ball workshop! We will teach you how to make incredibly cute holiday orange surprise balls that can be personalized and a blast to unwrap.

Sign up on The Works website here (class is $49 and you will take home 2-3 surprise balls each)

What is a surprise ball?
A surprise ball starts with a beautifully decorated crepe paper ball - the recipient starts to unwrap the crepe paper to find special trinkets and gifts along the way until they reach the center with the biggest gift in the middle! We will be providing different gifts you can use to build your surprise ball, but if you have trinkets you'd like to include please bring them!

Why holiday oranges?
The tradition of giving oranges around the holidays dates back to the 19th century when oranges were seen as a decadent and exotic treat to be put in the toe of the stocking. Oranges are a sign a good prosperity and abundance, and the perfect gift that can be shared with others.

Have other ideas on how to decorate your ball? Bring them!

Quick history of surprise balls:
Modern surprise balls date back to 1950s America when a man named Charles Gregor created, "The Surprise Ball: The Toy You Destroy to Enjoy." The surprise balls quickly took off and became popular presents throughout the country. With any toy trend, surprise ball popularity waned in the 60's - but this decade we're bringing it back with modern twists!

Make it Sustainable:
We encourage you to save the crepe paper to use again after the ball has been unwrapped! Use second hand, reusable or compostable gifts in your ball instead of plastic trinkets, if possible.
