PAST SHOWS AT THE MAG
Safe Space
‘Safe Space’ started as a completely different concept that was originally depicted as a physical manifestation of a safe haven I keep locked away in my head.
But, I heard a call (have you read Big Magic? You can’t ignore that inspiration!), and it demanded I create fish. lots and lots of fish. now. RIGHT NOW. Despite this shift, the name 'Safe Space' remained apt, reflecting the theme of seeking security within one's environment.
While most humans would not call the open ocean a ‘safe space’, it offers sanctuary to countless small creatures. Through the safety of the community, even the smallest fish can thrive. A school of sardines and other shelter-seeking animals like rock fish, crabs, and starfish finding solace in their surroundings symbolizes this innate need for protection and belonging.

FESTA PER GLI OCCHI
FEAST FOR THE EYES
Artist Elise Wulff pays homage to Italy and her culinary treasures by immortalizing beloved fare into sculptural art. Perhaps not a feast for the palate, but certainly a feast for the eyes!

Goodbye to Childhood Breakfast
April 30th - June 10th, 2023
“Childhood is a short season” - Helen Hayes
Goodbye to Childhood Breakfast is a multi-media exploration into my own anxiety about time, moving into adulthood and the loss I don’t necessarily feel for the halcyon days of past. It does feel like time is racing fast to the finish line (actually, science shows time does appear to move faster for adults via heuristics), and the pressures of aging and losing time are all around us.
However, throughout creating this installation, I was reminded that the magic we knew as children can be so powerful when brought into adulthood. Imagination, play and wonder are integral to a joy-filled life that keeps us present and moving forward instead of looking back.
I feel nostalgic about childhood (and breakfast at my Gram’s where many a bowl of cereal was eaten) - but I also wouldn’t go back. Though I still consider myself young, time is not promised to anyone. I’m enjoying the time I have left.
A personal exploration into imagination and anxiety, childhood nostalgia and the human experience of time. Oh and breakfast foods!
We Belong To The Wild
In this curated animal collection, cardboard pieces from past and present were created as a celebration of the wild in us all.
March 24th - April 20th, 2023
If you've ever been inspired by a poem, by nature, by animals, you've known the feeling of belonging to the wild. Whenever I walk in Discovery Park, or snuggle my dog Goose, or feel my heartstrings being pulled when reading a Mary Oliver poem, I know that the wild is alive and well in my soul.
This collection of animal pieces is a celebration of that wild place that lives both inside and outside of ourselves. It lives in the orcas spotted from the ferry boat. It lives in the little snails slowly making their way through our gardens. The snakes sunning themselves on quiet walking trails in the summer. The wild lives in the 'fat bears' filling up on the abundance of salmon in the fall. It also lives in each and every human.
It's the feeling that we are so lucky to experience in the PNW - the feeling that we belong to the bigger wild.
“Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting -
over and over announcing your place in the family of things.”
- Mary Oliver, Wild Geese
